I finally made it to El Sabor Restaurant GM at 294 Broadway, Passaic, NJ 07055, and honestly, I’ve been missing out. I’m always on the hunt for real-deal Latin flavor, and this cozy spot in Passaic hit every note. The vibe is casual and authentic, the kind of place where you feel like a regular the second you walk through the door.
Looking at the menu and prices, I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything is given the massive portion sizes. I ordered the 1/2 chicken combo, but the best dish I tried had to be the Mangú. It was perfectly smooth, topped with those tangy pickled onions that just make the dish. I also saw a few regulars digging into the Sancocho, which looked incredibly hearty.
One of my favorite 2025 reviews mentioned the "authentic home-cooked feel," and I have to agree—it doesn't taste like "restaurant" food; it tastes like someone’s abuela is in the kitchen. If you're wondering is it worth a visit, the answer is a resounding yes, especially for a quick, filling lunch.
The Parking Hack: Broadway can be a nightmare for parking. If you can't find a spot right out front, try the side streets near Christopher Columbus Park; it’s a short walk, and you'll save yourself the headache of circling the block.
The "Picante" Tip: Ask for their house-made green sauce (aji) on the side. It’s got a serious kick that isn't always offered upfront but elevates the roasted chicken to another level.
